Helping Hands Adult Day Program is a community Adult Day Care Program licensed by the California Department of Social Services. They offer socialization opportunities, peer relationships, reduction of isolation, group and individual exercise, nutritious meals and snacks, counseling and support, medication assistance, and an individual needs and services plan.


They provide an activity program for dependent adults 18 and older three days (Mon, Tue & Fri) a week for six hours (9am-3pm). Cost is $70/day or any amount one can afford. Participants are dropped off and picked up by their caregiver or can ride the para-transit bus in Nevada County.

Services
The Behavioral Health Department provides a wide variety of Adult Mental Health Services to the public, particularly for Medi-Cal recipients and those with severe mental illness. These include Mental Health Services and Alcohol and Other Drug Services. County employees provide some services, while contracted individuals and organizations provide other services, with County monitoring.

Service Range
This continuum of care ranges from acute inpatient to routine outpatient services, and includes medication services, psychotherapy, residential services, wellness and recovery, care management, long term institutional care and vocational services. Adult Services monitors the delivery of services to ensure that State standards are met for quality, timeliness and authorization.

The Adult Protective Services Program provides intervention activities directed toward safeguarding the well-being of elders and dependent adults suffering from or at risk of abuse or neglect, including self-neglect.

APS Eligibility:

Elder (60 years and older) and dependent adults (18-59 years old) who experience abuse, neglect, self-neglect or financial exploitation and otherwise meet the eligibility criteria for Adult Protective Services (APS).

Adult Protective Services is part of the Adult System of Care, one of six divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

APS investigates reports of abuse and provides safety planning, referrals, and case management to protect vulnerable adults who are unable to care for themselves.

Services include:

Home Safe is a homelessness prevention program available to eligible APS clients who are either at imminent risk of homelessness or have recently become homeless due to abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or financial exploitation. 

Home Safe housing-related support may include:

  • Rental assistance, including back rent or security deposits
  • Utility assistance
  • Conflict mediation with landlords
  • Public systems navigation
  • Legal services and eviction protection
  • Heavy cleaning
