The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) ensures that every taxpayer is treated fairly and knows and understands their rights.

There are seven TAS offices in California. The one nearest to Nevada and Placer counties is in Sacramento.

The Salvation Army provides basic needs assistance, community support programs, and emergency services for people living in Rocklin and Roseville.

Services include:

• Rental assistance
• Utility assistance, available when funding allows
• Food assistance, including:
  • Emergency pantry
  • Community meals (times vary)
• Disaster response, including fire recovery and emergency aid
• Shower access on Fridays from 6-7pm (no clothing distribution)
• Holiday programs, such as seasonal food boxes and gift drives
• Childcare assistance, available in limited cases
• Employment support, including job search assistance and referrals
• Spiritual support, such as pastoral care and prayer counseling

The Assistance League of Greater Placer (ALGP) operates a thrift store offering gently used clothing, household items, and accessories. 

Proceeds from sales support local community programs provided by ALGP.

The store is open to the public and accepts donations of clean, gently used goods.

Services include:

• Thrift store with clothing, shoes, and accessories
• Home goods, small furnishings, and seasonal décor
• Donation drop-off for gently used items
• Revenue supports local Assistance League programs

The Youth Service Corps program allows nonprofit organization or local government agency employers to connect with eligible job applicants and expand their workforce while the program pays for training.

The program:

• Places trained interns that match the needs of employers
• Pays an intern’s wages for up to six months while employers provide role-specific training
• Provides interns with coaching and support for the duration of the internship
• Is open to both English only and Spanish only speakers

The Connecting Point Employment Services department offers the Youth Service Corps program. The program is focused on hiring youth ages 16-30 to work with local nonprofits or government agencies in the areas of public service, food insecurity, and climate action.
