Amor Senior Care (ASC) delivers non-medical, in-home support services for older adults.

Services are designed to help individuals remain safe and independent at home, and include personal care, household help, memory care, and 24-hour supervision.

Care plans are customized and may support transitions from hospital to home, family respite, or long-term daily living needs.

Services include:

• Housekeeping, grocery support, and meal preparation
• Personal care such as bathing and grooming
• Veteran-focused care services
• Transitional care following hospital discharge

Additional notes:

Medicare does not cover non-medical in-home care. Amor Senior Care accepts private pay, long-term care insurance, and works with veterans receiving VA benefits.

Gold Country Senior Services (GCSS) offers activities and classes that may include Needlework Circle, Bridge, Bingo, Nutritional and Educational Workshops, Line Dance, Tai Chi, and Gentle Yoga. See current listings here.

Gold Country Senior Services also operates a Senior Center in Grass Valley. It's located at 231 Colfax Ave in Grass Valley. Senior Center Members receive half-price access to all programs and get to help choose the programs GCSS offers each month.

Sierra Senior Services offers community dining for older adults at Truckee Donner Senior Apartments, 10040 Estates Dr, Truckee.

Services include:

• Hot lunches served Mon-Fri from 12pm-12:30pm
• No advance reservations required
• Voluntary contribution of $6 for people age 60 or older
• Guests under age 60 may attend for $10 per meal

No one age 60 or older is turned away due to inability to contribute.

The Senior Firewood Program provides qualified seniors a limited amount of pine/fir to supplement their other home heating sources when wood is available. Also accepts donations of wood as able.

Anyone wanting to apply to receive wood or donate wood should call to learn the current status of the program.

Wood supplies generally run out each season, and there are not always enough volunteers to accept wood donations.

Call 530-615-4541 to learn when applications open and whether donations are currently being accepted.

At times when the Senior Firewood Program is out of wood, Project Go may be able to help both Nevada & Placer County residents if they are income eligible for LIHEAP (they do not need to be seniors, just income qualified). Call 916-782-3443.

If a move is needed, they assist with finding the right retirement community to suit needs and budget and provide assistance with every aspect of the move.

The Senior Outreach Nurse program provides health services to county residents 60 years and older. It also offers comprehensive health and safety assessments, health screenings, fall prevention education, medication education/management resources, and continued in-home follow-up.

Seniors First's Telephone Reassurance Program provides homebound seniors with “social calls” by screened and trained volunteers.

The purpose of this free program is to alleviate the loneliness and isolation older adults often experience when living alone, or when residing in a rural area with limited access to transportation or social activities.

Call Reassurance provide weekly in-home social calls and also serve as a resource on community services and programs that can help the client retain their independence and remain in their home as long as they choose.

Seniors must be 60 and over, homebound (no longer driving), and able to interact socially.

Volunteer and senior matches are based on shared interests, geography, volunteer availability and personality as much as possible.
