The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) manages and protects the state’s fish, wildlife, native plants, and natural habitats. 

The department oversees recreational and commercial uses of wildlife resources, enforces poaching laws, and provides education on coexisting with wildlife.

CDFW also issues hunting and fishing licenses and monitors sensitive species and habitats statewide.

Services include:

• Hunting and fishing license issuance
• Wildlife law enforcement and poaching prevention
• Public education on species protection and human-wildlife conflict
• Scientific research and fishery restoration projects
• Oversight of the Yuba Salmon Study and Rotary Screw Trap monitoring
