The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) manages and protects the state’s fish, wildlife, native plants, and natural habitats. 

The department oversees recreational and commercial uses of wildlife resources, enforces poaching laws, and provides education on coexisting with wildlife.

CDFW also issues hunting and fishing licenses and monitors sensitive species and habitats statewide.
